Empire City Men’s Chorus (ECMC) was founded in 1993. To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we wanted to create something special to commemorate our history. Of course, we thought of none other than Lisa Haviland to help us! Lisa worked tirelessly with ECMC to tell the stories and share the laughter, and even painful memories, of a group of men who had been ostracized by society and found their place and brotherhood in music. I have known Lisa Haviland as an editor and “writing coach” since 2007, when I hired her as my academic editor, after her references just glowed about her. Lisa provides both encouragement and advice on the technical and conceptual parts of academic writing. At Rapaport Diamond Report, where I was editor in chief, Lisa was responsible for copyediting and fact-checking news briefs and articles for our print magazine and she also provided copyediting and fact-checking for the news component of our website.
